Collective Haul - IMATS & Napoleon Giveaway!

Hey musers,

I have a little confession to make.

I've been accruing (old accountant me coming out lol) quite a bit of beauty products the past few weeks - ever since I went full time. I needed to let it out. And show you guys. Haha. Sharing is caring right? (Giveaway alert!!!)

But before I show you the video, I needed to let something else out.

Seriously.. there are so many scenes I had to edit out of the video because I thought it would irritate you guys too much and make you stop watching. ㅋㅋ
Don't worry - I still love him. He was just particularly clingy that day for some reason. Cooper's actually currently going through what they call bird puberty. It happens from the age of 2 (the terrible twos) to about 4. He's 3.5 years old right now so.. just a few more months left >_<

Anyways, here's my collective makeup haul video, including what I purchased from IMATS which was on Saturday, 20th of September in Sydney. Vlog#11 is coming up soon, featuring my fellow Cleo Mag Beauty Ambassadors (Australia's biggest beauty gurus) Chloe Morello & Lauren Curtis. How can you not love them? They're just so lovely. Also thank you my sweet subbie Shan May once again for the thoughtful card and pressies! I enjoyed shopping with you! =)

Soo much makeup right? o_O And do you guys recall in my Massive Korean Makeup Haul video from when I'd just gotten back from Korea in March, my semi-vow not to buy any makeup in Sydney cos it's just not worth it? Well, I guess perspectives change when one lives in a country for a long time.. hahaha #fail (#oops, #thisainttwitter, #haveyouseenjustintimberlakeshashtagskit, #ifnotviewhere kekeke)

[Seriously though.. do you guys find yourself hashtagging things in random places? That #fail hashtag was genuinely an oops moment. Puhahaha.]

So in regards to the haul, if you would like a blog review on any of the items I mentioned, just leave it as a comment below or on Youtube. I'm more than happy to do so once I finish moving over all my posts from my site.

So now, it's time for...

Giveaway Time!!!

As I said in the video, I've been on a quest to try out heaps of different primers, from all different brands. So far, nothing beats my favourite Mac Matte in terms of application, product quality, smoothing effect and lasting power. Some products leave too much of a wet, sticky feeling, whilst others are so sheer they hardly have any smoothing effect on the skin.

Well Napoleon Perdis, being a preliever (primer+believer - ok that's lame and I just made it up), with his infamous line, 'Not to prime is a crime', has a huge range of primers in his Napoleon Set line. I've been trying them out and think the pre-foundation pore perfecting primer is great. I love how affordable but decent quality this line is.

I have a soft spot for NP Set eyeshadows too - they're so pigmented and inexpensive. In fact, I featured one of his palettes in my first ever Youtube video back in 2011, which was a February Favorites. Hehe. Kudos to any of y'all who've been following me since then!

So anyway, just to reward you guys for being so loyal and faithful (those who avidly follow my social media platforms), I'm giving away three of my Napoleon Set primers.
Here are the details - enlarge to watch:

Make sure to read the entry conditions and details carefully before entering :) Check back on my blog on the 14th of October for the winners announcement.

Good luck!

Love you and hope you've had/are having a wonderful week,

Jen x

Dailylook Haul & Review

Hey musers,

Have you guys heard of DailyLook, or bought anything from them? I recently did my first lookbook video wearing a few pieces from them.

Here are a few behind-the-scenes shots from my DailyLook Lookbook Video, wearing a simple and classy structured black dresspeach and gold chunky chain necklace and oversized navy box clutch.

It was actually freezing cold but that's just what beauty bloggers do for the sake of a video! Haha :)
When I first opened my package, I was taken by the quality of the structured black dress. The material is nice and heavy - not light and flimsy - and the seams and little details are well-constructed. It doesn't crease and it sits nicely on the shoulders, falling gorgeously out along the torso without being too tackishly tight, nor unflatteringly loose. It flaired out a little more than I expected it to at the bottom, but I got accustomed to it and after a while, I realised that it was that feature which added a unique cuteness to the dress to make it stand out from other typical 'little black dresses'.

The bags were quite good too. I used the timeless black bag everyday for work this year whilst teaching full-time, and it held up amazingly. I just love how it looks uber expensive when it wasn't really haha.

And how can I NOT comment on the gooorgeous little infinity ring that I am in love with?! (See video for close up shots - thanks to oppa) The peach and gold chain necklace is also so lovely, I've been wearing it out with lots of different outfits these days. I love how it sits so comfortably around my décolletage looking all classy and expensive. Mm. <3 The chunkiness adds a touch of 'tough' to softer, more feminine outfits.

In Australian-contextualised standard, oppa and I thought that overall, the quality of DailyLook's stuff is superior to the average Sportsgirl / Just Jeans / Bardot make, and more equivalent to - or slightly better than - Nine West / Zara / Witchery. However, the designs are different/unique to what an Aussie can get from just walking through Westfield.

Have a look through their site, since we did score that international shipping (well done everyone!), and now all who have been dying to buy from DL are free to do so :) I will leave purchase links to all the items I showed you just below.

Love Jen.

My Night-Time Skincare Routine

Hey musers,

Skincare is a hot topic everywhere. Even our not-so-beauty-fussed male counterparts harbour secret curiosities about good skincare products.

I get constant requests to update you guys on what products I've been using for my skincare routine; whether I still used Hera, SK-II and if I was trying anything new. So here's to my Updated Skincare Routine video, with a bonus brief room tour for your informative pleasure!

Here are the products I use every night :
Overview of all my skincare products

 The Steps:

Step 1: SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

I put one pump into the palm of my hands, then pat them over my face and neck.

This product can be used on the sensitive eye area too. (Note: slightly funky smell)

Step 2: Hera Aquabolic Moisturizing Water (For Normal & Dry Skin)
I use a pea size amount for my face and neck.

Step 3: Hera Aquabolic Moisturizing Emulsion (For Normal & Dry Skin)
I use one and a half pumps for my face and neck.

The Emulsion comes with a pump applicator as it is a lotion consistency,
whereas the Water comes with an open hole applicator.

Step 4: SK-II Skin Signature (Moisturising Cream)
- see below for update as of April 2014

Step 5: Skinfood Watery Berry Eye Cream
The texture is light and gel-like, and has not caused any milia around my eyes.

Step 6: Chanel Hydramax Active Nutrition Lip Balm

And just for the sake of it (I may do a separate review on this product):

Nature Republic's Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel
- I apply this over my body, but it can be used on your face and hair as well.

April 2014 UPDATE : After finishing up with my SK-II Skin Signature Moisturiser, I am now using the SK-II Stempower Moisturiser. It is really a fantastic moisturiser. Will do an updated skincare routine post soon!

Here's my skincare routine video:

Feel free to ask any questions about the products I use in the comments.

Do any of you guys use Hera?

Oppa's Birthday Surprise

Hey guys,

So it was oppa's birthday earlier this month, and there were so many events that led up to it.

This year, more than ever, I couldn't make up my mind as to what to get him. It's been 5.5 years since we got married, which means we've been through many years of birthdays and pressies! I completely ran out of ideas and creativity. (Let's not go down the lane of saying I started getting comfy after so many years of marriage haha!)

Now you may or may not know, but oppa is kind of a bit of a guitar freak. Maybe that's an understatement. You guys probably don't know this either, but he owns an online guitar pedal store, called (I helped him name it! Inspired by makeupalley hahaha). Our house is literally clad with makeup, guitars, guitar pedals, guitar pedal boards, more makeup, and then on top of that, my teaching stuff!

Anyway, so in the past, I've bought him mostly guitar-related things. In fact, the very first birthday present I ever bought him - back in 2008 - was this cute little green Ibanez.

Well.. something like that anyway. It was slightly less fleuro, and probably a completely different model altogether, but what do I know!? lol I told you guys I'm bad at remembering numbers, prices and series names! I'm a girl - which means I pretty much only pay attention to the colour puhahaha *recalls car shopping and oppa pointing out that my first question was "What colours are there?"*

This year, as I mentioned in my recent vlog (♥10), I helped him purchase his new guitar obsession: TMG (Taylor McGrath Guitars). Since that was an agreed present which he knew about before his birthday, I also got him this Mont Blanc Legend fragrance as a surprise. I knew he'd run out of his usual fragrance - the Chanel Allure Homme Sport, which he's been using for years and I think is growing out of.

I had my eye on this for a few months and got him to test smell it a few times sneakily here and there, and knew he loved it. I love this fragrance. It smells so sexy and masculine, with a slight heaviness/muskiness that adds a bit of presence. Like I said in the vlog, I recommend for men ages 25 and up who's looking for a bit of a raw, unique trademark scent!

Anyways, so my recent vlog (below) shows the rundown of the lead-up to oppa's birthday this year. I pretty much told him that we would go to MacDonald's from the night before to get him feeling a bit disappointed. (Evil much?) BUUUT of course I'd organised a secret surprise birthday dinner with our church fam-bam at Hard Rock Cafe in Darling Harbour.

(No, MacDonald's - or 'Maccas' as we call it here - is not gourmet and high-class in Australia! Sorry to disappoint. Hahaha your Youtube comments made me laugh!)

Here's a pic of us before heading out! Do you guys like my hair and makeup? I went really Korean-ish that night. Tutorial?

No photoshop - No filters - Us just as we are ;)

It was altogether a great night! Watch to see!

Spoiler: This video also reflects my husband's not-so-gentleman-ship-like-ness. Be warned.

My Decision

It's been a few days and now I've decided.

Thanks to all your input, advice and suggestions from all over my social media platforms (Facebookers, Tweeters, IGers, Youtubers and of course - Bloggers!), I've gathered that most of you love my website for what it is, but prefer the simple and easy to view layout of blog-powered sites. Also, you seem to agree with me that it would be better off for me to go with this blogging platform as I don't need to pay monthly fees or continue with all the complicated formatting of my wix-powered site.

So that's it! Good bye, current (and the hours of work I put into you!).. From now on, I'm sticking to blogger. I will redirect this page to my domain name within a few days, to give everyone a few days to adjust and also to finish my YAYER [my new monthly Facebook-exclusive giveaway], which ends at the end of this month.

I'll be spending the next few days moving all my existing blogposts to here so the links still work for those who come by from my videos. Once I've finished that I will finally have my blog sale up and begin to add regular blog posts - Mani Mondays, Product Reviews, Korean Food, Tutorials... the lot.

You know guys, I can't see who you are, but from the few years that I've had you by my side and have had chances to personally correspond with you, and bump into you on the streets, I know one thing for sure. My subscribers are all such nice people. You guys are seriously amazing and I am soo grateful for every single one of you. And I don't just say that as a repetitive, meaningless beauty-guru-saying.. I guess words couldn't express my genuine heart about it.

I'm so grateful that my subscribers are such kind-hearted, warm people. I feel so blessed to be surrounded and supported by such positive, gentle energy. Thank you from the bottom of my little ♥.

My Website / Blog Dilemma

So as you guys know, I have had my own official website and blog for the past few months -

It wasn't powered by a blogger site or anything, and so everything on it was made by me. Everything. Manual adjustments, layout, linking, formatting... you name it! I've literally spent weeks making it.

The reason I chose to make my own website, compared to using a blog-powered site, was actually just to make it more interactive and dynamic for you guys. I even paid loads of money to upgrade certain apps etc to make it best for you to use. It was a lot of work... and honestly I'm not sure if it's paid off because the blog is what is most important. However, what I've learnt is that a non-blogger-powered site is, in one word, frustrating.

I won't go into details as you may not be interested, but to all you future bloggers/website-makers out there, here's my advice based on experience: If you want to start a blog, research a lot before you make your decision on which site to go with! (I went with wix.)

Now I just need your help, because I made this site for you guys and this blog also exists for you!

My current website doesn't really have interactive Popular Features, a Comments section for each page, or even separate URLS for each blog post (which makes it really hard for you to navigate through). It also requires me to pay a fee to blog =/, whereas of course, this site doesn't. On the other hand, I can really update you guys on my entire life and social media platform activity in one go on my very first page, etc.

What do you prefer? My current dilemma / heart-breaking decision is having to delete my entire website as it is now (refer to photos above), and switching what's on my domain to this simple blogger-powered site - to focus on blogs and real interaction between you and me.

So should I keep my current website, or switch over and start again? I will probably move all my existing blogs here, so it'll still be in existence for the record!

Please comment below: 1 or 2?

Love you guys and truly appreciate your support.
