Today's Mani Monday is dedicated to one of my favourite seasonal holiday colours. Everything about this polish makes me feel classy, sensual and groomed.
Introducing the beautiful Chanel le Vernis Nail Colour in #499 Gondola.- Please excuse my messy job; I applied this as Cooper was flying around me.
|On my nails: 1 coat of Sally Hansen's Complete Care 4-in-1 Treatment and 2 coats of Chanel Gondola|
Can you see why it's one of my faves?
This is a truly flexible polish for all seasons - an eye-catching deep berry, plum-magenta with hints of darkened pink and a rich display of gold and cranberry-red fine shimmers throughout. My favourite polishes are those with multiple personalities: a happy sparkling colour in the day, a vampy magnetic shade at night.
It's supposed to be a sunny Spring day in Sydney which would typically gravitate my taste towards brighter shades for my talons, but for some reason it's been back to sweater-season down here with overcast gray skies and rainy nights. Hence I feel this multi-dimensional colour is just perfect for today.
Not to mention the Philippines (and soon perhaps, though hopefully not, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia) have just experienced the tragedy of what Typhoon Haiyan has brought upon them over the weekend. I know it is almost senseless of me to link this recent news with a superficial Mani Monday post, but I do want to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives or been affected by the disaster by saying that my heart and prayers go out to you, and yes - as senseless as may sound - I deliberately chose this shadier colour for today, over a neon orange, per say.
(Putting the Chanel aside for a moment, has anyone reading been affected, or know of people who have been affected by the Typhoon? Please let me know in the comments or leave it in our prayers section so oppa and I can keep you and your families in our prayers.)
As for the review of the nail polish itself, I give Gondola a 4/5 when considering:
Colour: Excellent - a gorgeous shade (pictures speak for itself) that is unique and I have yet to find a drugstore dupe for
Opacity: Excellent - 1 coat is enough for full colour
Application: Excellent - the dense brush is perfect sized and easy to work with, formula glides on easily
Longevity: Good - could last longer; begins to chip after 3-4 days without a top coat
Price: Expensive - only downside, as expected for a high-end Chanel item
Overall, I think the Chanel 499 Gondola would be a perfect for the upcoming Christmas/Thanksgiving holiday season, or as a gift for your fellow nail-polish lover friends.

Have a wonderful Monday! ♥
